Kazakhstan Sees Surge in Agri Exports to UAE

Astana (TDI): Demand for Kazakh food items is on the rise in the United Arab Emirates, which imports over $23 billion worth of agricultural products annually.

Kazakhstan’s agricultural exports to the UAE were the main focus during a meeting in Dubai between Kazakhstan’s Minister of Trade and Integration, Arman Shakkaliyev, and UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi.

Shakkaliyev reaffirmed Astana’s readiness to supply organic agricultural goods, with chilled lamb emerging as a standout product in the UAE market.

During the first 10 months of 2024, Kazakhstan sent 13,300 tons of lamb to the UAE, valued at 45.3 million dollars.

This marks a twofold increase in export volume and a 64 percent rise in revenue compared to the corresponding period in 2023.

In addition to lamb, Shakkaliyev underlined Kazakhstan’s capacity to export high-quality flour, confectionery, sunflower oil, and dairy products to the UAE.

The minister also stressed Kazakhstan’s commitment to developing halal certification for its agricultural items.

“Since 2014, more than 1,800 domestic and foreign firms have been certified, signifying the high standard and compliance of Kazakhstani products with global standards,” he said.

As part of the meeting, a tasting session showcased Kazakhstani apples, lamb and confectionery, further promoting the country’s agricultural offerings.

Kazakhstan’s lamb exports have also seen considerable growth in other Arab markets.
