Astana, 18 June 2023 (TDI): By the invitation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, will pay an official visit to Kazakhstan from June 19 to 21.
During the visit, the heads of state of the two countries will hold official discussions to define the status and prospects of enhancing the Kazakh-German strategic partnership.
Primarily the discussions are to be centered on cooperation in the field of trade, economy, and investment. Inclusive of the development of transport and logistics and energy cooperation and strengthening of humanitarian ties.
Consequently, some bilateral documents are to be signed by both sides at the end of the meeting.
In addition, the Federal President of Germany will participate in the Forum of Rectors of Kazakh and German Universities.
President Tokayev and his German counterpart, President Steinmeier, will also take part in the Kazakh-German business forum.
During the visit, Frank-Walter Steinmeier plans to pay a visit to the Mangistau Region (located in the southwest of the country) to explore the economic potential of the region.

Furthermore, President Steinmeier intends to attend the opening ceremony of the Kazakh-German Institute of Engineering, including the ceremony of launching a test drilling at the green hydrogen plant of the Swedish-German company Svevind.
Kazakhstan and Germany have maintained bilateral relations since 1992. The cooperation between both sides spans political, economic and cultural spheres.
In 2012, Germany and Kazakhstan established a partnership in the spheres of raw materials, industry and technology.

According to the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, Kazakhstan is Germany’s most important trading partner in Central Asia. Also, there are more than 200 German companies in operation in Kazakhstan.
It is noteworthy that President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will be the first leader from Europe to visit the Mangisau region. Meanwhile, it is anticipated that the discussions between the leaders will strengthen the Kazakh-German bilateral ties.
