Budapest (TDI): Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), in collaboration with L.A.C. Holding of Hungary and Xi’an Free Trade Port Construction and Operation Co., Ltd. of China, has inked a significant Memorandum of Cooperation to bolster transport and logistics links.
The agreement was formalized in Budapest during President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state visit to Hungary.
The partnership envisions the establishment of a state-of-the-art intermodal cargo terminal in Budapest.
The Hungarian capital, renowned for its well-integrated transport network, serves as a strategic gateway for multimodal shipments across Europe.

The proposed terminal, with an annual capacity of 230,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units), is expected to enhance container train operations along the China-Europe-China corridor, leveraging transit routes through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).
Officials stated that the project aims to slash delivery times, cut transportation costs, and streamline transshipment processes.
The development aligns with KTZ’s broader strategy to expand its terminal network across key global transport corridors, reinforcing Kazakhstan’s role as a pivotal transit hub in Eurasia.
