Almaty/Bishkek (TDI): Amid escalating hostilities in Ukraine, the governments of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have urged their citizens residing in the war-torn country to enhance personal safety measures and consider leaving Ukraine, particularly areas near active combat zones.
In an advisory issued on Wednesday, the Kazakh embassy in Ukraine emphasized the growing risks due to frequent artillery shelling and airstrikes.
“We strongly advise our citizens to leave high-risk areas or Ukraine altogether for safety reasons,” the embassy stated on Telegram.
It further urged individuals to adhere to air raid warnings, seek shelter immediately, and follow the recommendations of local authorities.
Kazakh nationals have been advised to travel home via land routes through Poland or Moldova, with onward commercial flights available.
While entry into Poland requires a Schengen visa, no visa is needed for Moldova.

Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, citing its embassy in Ukraine, reported a significant drone attack in the Kyiv region on Wednesday.
In a statement, it recommended that Kyrgyz nationals strengthen their personal security or leave Ukraine until the situation stabilizes.
US, Western Embassies Close Temporarily
The United States Embassy in Kyiv announced a temporary closure on Wednesday, citing credible intelligence of a potential large-scale air attack.
Embassy staff were directed to shelter in place as a precautionary measure.
Other Western embassies have also temporarily suspended operations due to the heightened threat level.
The ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which began with Russia’s invasion in February 2022, has intensified in recent weeks.
Ukrainian forces have reportedly gained ground in Russia’s Kursk region, prompting increased deployments of North Korean troops to assist Russian forces along the border.

The situation has further escalated with Ukraine’s use of U.S.-supplied long-range missiles to strike targets within Russian territory.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has renewed warnings about the potential deployment of nuclear weapons, signaling his intent to deter additional Western military support for Kyiv.
The evolving conflict underscores the deepening challenges for civilians and foreign nationals caught in the crossfire.
