Kazakh President, US Special Envoy Discuss Strategic Partnership

Astana (TDI): Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has held talks with US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation under the expanded strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the United States.

Kazakhstan’s presidential press service said that Tokayev highlighted the strong level of bilateral relations and stressed Kazakhstan’s interest in further deepening ties with Washington.

He also underscored the importance of the C5+1 dialogue framework, particularly discussions focused on critical minerals, which he described as strategically significant for Central Asia.

During the meeting, Tokayev expressed his best wishes to U.S. President Donald Trump and thanked him for the invitation to attend the G20 Summit scheduled to be held in Miami later this year.

US Special Envoy Sergio Gor, in response, conveyed greetings from President Trump and thanked the Kazakh leader for the meeting. He noted that agreements and deals worth more than 20 billion dollars have been concluded between the United States and countries in the region over the past year.

Both sides discussed expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and economic development, with particular focus on key sectors such as critical minerals, transport, logistics, and digitalization.

The talks also touched on regional initiatives, including the activities of the so-called Board of Peace, as well as broader efforts to promote stability and humanitarian cooperation.

Tokayev reiterated Kazakhstan’s readiness to contribute to international stability and support global humanitarian initiatives, while both sides exchanged views on regional and global developments and expressed interest in further expanding multifaceted Kazakhstan–U.S. relations.

Earlier, President Tokayev also extended congratulations to King Abdullah II of Jordan on the occasion of the country’s national holiday, the King’s Accession to the Throne Day.
