Amman, 1 August 2022 (TDI): Jordan has submitted an expression of interest to host the Women’s Asian Cup 2026. Three other member countries are also vying to stage the Football tournament in their countries.

Other member countries that have expressed their interest in hosting Asia’s premier women’s football tournament include Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, and Australia.

“The AFC will now work with all Bidding Member Associations on the delivery of the necessary bidding documentation by the bidding process with a decision to be finalised and communicated in 2023,” the Asian Football confederation said.

Australia hosted the Women’s Asian Cup in 2006, while the 19th edition of the tournament was played in Jordon in 2018. However, Uzbekistan has not hosted the mega event before.

“Meanwhile, Jordan became the first West Asian country to host the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in 2018, while Saudi Arabia is aiming to be only the second nation in the West Asian zone to stage the competition,” AFC added.

Further, Saudi Arabia will be hosting the first woman’s tournament in its history if it is successful in the bidding.
