New York, 21 September 2021 (TDI): Ayman Safadi, Jordan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs & Expatriates met with Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission. The meeting transpired on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
The need to strengthen the strategic partnership between the EU and Jordan as well as cooperation to sort out regional crises came under discussion. The Jordanian Foreign Minister lauded the EU for its support in the hosting of Syrian refugees and the development process in Jordan. He also talked about the initiation of dialogue between Jordan and the EU about the Jordan-EU Partnership Priorities.
They discussed the Palestine issue between Ayman Safadi and Josep Borrell where the former commended the supportive role of the EU towards the two-state solution. Aside from that, the Jordanian Foreign Minister also expressed gratitude to the EU for its consistent support to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
