Amman, 4 August 2022 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Jordan, Ayman Safadi took part in the Stockholm Initiative for Nuclear Disarmament held in New York.

During his address, he stressed the need to work together in making the Middle East free from Nuclear mass destruction. Further, he also thanked Sweden and Germany for holding this key event.

During the Meeting, organized by Sweden and Germany, he also emphasized the need to solve regional issues. This is necessary to avoid countries to lock into an arms race in the region.

Meeting with other Ministers

On the sidelines of the conference, he also met Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis. During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to advance bilateral relations.

Further, they also exchanged views on regional issues of mutual interest. Jordanian Foreign Minister called Switzerland ” a valued friend” of Jordan.

On the sidelines, he also met Philip Stoner Twyford, Minister of Disarmament Affairs of New Zealand. In addition, the two sides focused on ways to ramp up relations between the two countries.

Furthermore, the two sides agreed to enlarge cooperation between the two sides in various fields importantly, in the field of trade, CT, defense & tourism.

Meeting with Swedish Counterpart

He also met the Foreign Minister of Sweden, Ann Linde in New York on the sidelines of the Stockholm Initiative.

The two leaders vowed to step up cooperation between the two countries. In particular, The two sides discussed ways to enhance joint support for the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), responsible for the welfare of Palestine refugees.
