Putrajaya, 12 August 2022 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman met Abdullah Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, King of Malaysia.

During the meeting, the Foreign Minister conveyed the greetings and wishes of the King of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Meeting with Prime Minister

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani also met Ismail Sabri Yaqoub, the Prime Minister of Malaysia. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral cooperation between Malaysia and Qatar.

Also, they discussed matters of interest including Qatar’s investment in Malaysia. In addition, they also discussed food security and cooperation in Education.

Moreover, international and regional developments including Ukrainian Crisis and the current situation in Palestine came under discussion along with the Rohingya refugee crisis.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Malaysia thanked Qatar for its support of the Rohingya refugees in the health sector.

“We value our close ties & look forward to enhancing cooperation at all levels.” Qatari Foreign Minister wrote on Twitter.

 Meeting with other Ministers

Apart from this, the Qatari Foreign Minister also met Muhammad Azmin Ali, Senior Minister and Minister of International Trade & Industry of Malaysia. Meanwhile, the two leaders expressed willingness to strengthen cooperation in the field of trade & investment.

Muhammad Azmin Ali briefed the Qatari Foreign Minister about the reforms Malaysia has put in place through National Investment Aspirations.

He expressed hope that National Investment Aspirations (NIA) will enhance the cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of agriculture.
