Japan sends AstraZeneca vaccine to Thailand

Bangkok, 18 October 2021 (TDI): Thailand received additional 385,210 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine from Japan to tackle the pandemic of Covid-19. It was the 4th lot which Thailand received from Japan under the vaccine diplomacy. Japan has provided 2,043,100 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine doses until now.

Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude to the Japan’s good will gesture. In a tweet, the Ministry appreciated and said it is the 4th lot which has been arrived in Thailand from Japan.

Earlier this month, Japan donated 300,000 doses of the same vaccination. The gesture was made to commemorate 134th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The doses were under the announcement made by Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi in which he mentioned the idea of donating 1.3 million AstraZeneca vaccines to different Asian states. Thailand was announced to receive 300,000 doses in it.

Thailand also welcomed 346,100-dose of AstraZeneca from Germany. Bangkok received the doses on 15th October.
