Antananarivo, 10 December 2021 (TDI): Japan and the Republic of Madagascar partners on various development projects. The Japanese Ambassador to Madagascar, HIGUCHI Yoshi, tabled talk with the President of Madagascar and signed various development projects under the Japan-Madagascar partnership.
Launch of Second Phase of Toamasina Port
The Japanese Ambassador to the Republic of Madagascar officially launched the second phase of the Toamasina port that is being constructed and extended under the Japan-Madagascar partnership. The plan is to extend and triple the capacity of the port for enhanced trade between the Southern African region with the rest of the world.

During the launch, the President of Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina, and the Japanese Ambassador to Madagascar, HIGUCHI Yoshi, were present. The government of Madagascar, with the partnership and support of Japan, wants to make this port a hub of trade in the Indian ocean.
During the launch event, the President of Madagascar thanked the Japanese Ambassador to Madagascar and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency for their support and commitment towards the people and government of Madagascar.
Work to end Gender-Based Violence
The work of the Japanese Ambassador in Madagascar is unknown to none. He has been active in the social and economic betterment of the people of Madagascar. Recently, the Ambassador also raised awareness to end Gender-Based Violence in the region.

Witnessing his efforts, the UNFPA Madagascar thanked the presence and the efforts of the Japanese Ambassador to Madagascar to mitigate GBV in the region.
Efforts to curb malnutrition
Japan has been an active promoter of healthy and hygienic living in Africa. Under various development projects, the government of Japan has supported a healthy and clean lifestyle for the people of Madagascar.

Recently, the Ambassador of Japan to Madagascar also launched the irrigation project in Madagascar for better irrigation and agricultural system in the country. Along with it, his efforts for the promotion of clean and green Madagascar are known to all. Also, to enhance the health facilities, the Japanese Ambassador provided a grant for ambulance provision in Madagascar.
All in all, the government of Japan and the Republic of Madagascar are moving together for a better and prosperous Madagascar for the people to flourish socially and economically. The efforts and the partnership of Japan with Madagascar will pave the way for a prosperous future of the region in general and Madagascar in particular.
