Kabul, 16 October 2023 (TDI): The new ambassador of Japan to Afghanistan, Takeyoshi Kuramaya was introduced to the Afghan Foreign Minister, Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi by the former Japanese ambassador to Afghanistan, Takashi Okada on October 15.
During the meeting with the Afghan Foreign Minister, the former Japanese ambassador Okada mentioned the positive impressions and achievements related to the situation in Afghanistan.
The former Japanese ambassador also expressed his hope that some of the remaining topics of cooperation between Afghanistan and Japan could be opened for better interaction with the appointment of the new ambassador.
The Afghan Foreign Minister on his part praised the Japanese ambassador Okada for completing his mission well and wished the new ambassador success in his coming responsibilities.
The Afghan Foreign Minister also highlighted the good relations between Afghanistan and Japan developed in the past two years.
He also noted the achievements the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has secured such as security, the fight against drugs, and decisive measures against corruption.
After that, the new ambassador of Japan, Kormaya, noted the good interaction between the two countries and promised to play a constructive role in the further development of relations.
In the end, the Afghan Foreign Minister appreciated Japan’s sympathy with the Afghans and thanked them for Japan’s aid to the recent earthquakes.
The Afghan Foreign Minister also shared his hope that the Japanese ambassador will play a good role in the further development of relations between Afghanistan and Japan.

In previous meetings with the Afghan Foreign Minister, the former Japanese ambassador to Afghanistan Okada stood appreciative of IEA’s effort in ensuring security, combating narcotics, and economic growth.
Japanese ambassador Okada in his tenure reiterated the commitment of the Japanese government to extend and strengthen relations with Afghanistan.
