IYDS Participants Discover Zimbabwe’s History and Culture During Embassy Visit

Islamabad (TDI): The participants of the 6th International Young Diplomats School, organized by the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS), visited the Embassy of Zimbabwe as their second stop of the first day.

The three day school runs under the theme “Building Network of Future Leaders through Public Diplomacy,” and offers an opportunity for students of International Relations (IR) and mid-career professionals to get a direct exposure to the world of diplomacy.

The ambassador of Zimbabwe, Titus M. J. Abu Basutu, welcomed the participants and shared lesser-known insights and information on the history, geography, culture of the African country.

The ambassador also briefed the cohort on the underlying foreign policy values and aspirations of Zimbabwe as well as the relation it shares with Pakistan. He reflected on the cultural aspects of this bilateral relation, in addition to trade and business ties.

As IYDS kickstarted on Tuesday, the participants were welcomed earlier at the Austrian residence by the ambassador of Austria, Wolfgang Oliver Kutschera, who shared perspectives on the enduring Pakistan–Austria relationship and highlighted avenues for collaboration in education, business, and tourism.
