New York City, 22 September 2021 (TDI): Italy organized the ministerial side event chaired by Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio and the United Nations (UN).
The aim was to focus on the ground situation and the challenges, risks Afghan women are facing.
Luigi Di Maio discussed the protection of Afghan girls and women and how to provides them with their rights.
Luigi Di Maio has stated that we need to set goals to protect the girls and women in Afghanistan.
Foreign Minister said that it is our responsibility to safeguard the Afghan women, suffering discrimination, violence, and abuse every day.
In the virtual event, they focused on the tools to support women in Afghanistan. Like an International monitoring mechanism to monitor the human rights situation in Afghanistan and the humanitarian aid.
Luigi Di Maio stressed that the Afghan topic is our top priority. Italy is committed to helping women in their difficult times.
