Gaza (TDI): While the world’s attention remains locked on the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel — with headlines dominated by airstrikes, nuclear concerns, and regional power plays — the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza continues to worsen with little global focus.
On Thursday, Gaza’s civil defense agency reported that Israeli forces killed at least 72 Palestinians in a single day. Among the dead, 21 were civilians who had gathered near aid distribution sites as famine tightens its grip on the besieged territory.
According to civil defense spokesman Mahmud Bassal, six people were killed in southern Gaza while waiting for food aid, and 15 more were killed in the central Netzarim Corridor — an area where thousands gather daily in hopes of receiving basic food rations.
In northern Gaza, nine separate strikes were carried out by Israeli armed forces killed an additional 51 people.

Eyewitness Bassam Abu Shaar said that around 1:00 am, as people waited overnight near the US and Israeli backed aid site in Netzarim, Israeli forces began firing gunshots, launching tank shells, and dropping bombs using drones.
The size of the crowd made it difficult for anyone to escape, he said, and many victims were left lying near the distribution point without help.
Gaza’s health ministry says over 300 Palestinians have now been killed in recent weeks while trying to reach aid points. Famine-like conditions persist due to long-standing Israeli restrictions and blockades.
Although the blockade was slightly eased in late May, allowing the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) to distribute some aid, chaos continues.

The UN and major relief groups have refused to work with the GHF — which is backed by Israel and the United States — citing concerns that the foundation operates in alignment with Israeli military objectives.
UN inquiry chair Navi Pillay called the situation “outrageous,” noting that people are being killed just for trying to feed their families.
As the Iran-Israel conflict dominates headlines and global diplomacy, the crisis in Gaza grows deadlier and more desperate. The blurring of focus has left one of the world’s worst humanitarian disasters unfolding in silence — with famine, bombings, and civilian deaths continuing without pause.
