Islamophobia is growing in West, Foreign Minister

8 June 2021 -Islamabad ( TDI): Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi denounces the incident, saying “it reveals growing Islamophobia in the West.,”.

“This is a heinous act of terrorism motivated by hatred and Islamophobia. We express our heartfelt condolences to the family members and pray for the recovery of the single survivor, a young kid “he stated.

In what police described as a “premeditated” incident, a man driving a pickup truck slammed into and killed four members of a Muslim family in the south of Canada’s Ontario province.  Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also condemned the event on Twitter, adding that three generations of Pakistani-Canadians have been slaughtered because of their faith.

On 7 June, police said a man accused of killing four members of a Canadian Muslim family after driving them over with his pickup truck had targeted them in a hate crime. “There is evidence that this was a planned, intentional crime motivated by hatred,” London Police Detective Superintendent Paul Waight told reporters. Islamophobia existed before the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, but it has become more common and well-known in the last decade.
