Irish and Yemen Foreign Ministers meet in New York

New York, 23 September 2021 (TDI): The Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs of Yemen, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak met with the Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense, Simon Coveney. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The agenda of the engagement was to discuss the prevalent situation in Yemen as well as the bilateral ties. Bin Mubarak elaborated upon the military escalation of the Houthi coup militia and its subsequent adverse impact upon civilian and populated regions. He enunciated the need for intervention by the Security Council to counter the threat imposed by the Houthi militia’s obduracy. The risk by the Safer reservoir to the marine environment in Yemen was also discussed.

During the meeting, issues of mutual interest were also deliberated upon. Aside from that latest political developments to acquire peace as per the three references, also came under discussion. Delegates of Ireland and Yemen, Geraldine Nassin and Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi were also in attendance during the meeting.
