Baghdad, 13 September 2021 (TDI): Iraq has received 100,800 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines from Italy. On Sunday, over 100K doses arrived in Baghdad through the COVAX facility, said UNICEF.
As part of its pledge to donate 15 million doses of vaccines, Italy has successfully donated the first doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Iraq.
Dr. Ahmed Zouiten, the World Health Organization Representative in Iraq, appreciated the support provided by the people of Italy to Iraq.
Moreover, the Ambassador of Italy to Iraq, Bruno Pasquino, called these donations a tangible sign of solidarity and friendship ties between Iraq and Italy.
Further, he assured that Italy stands by Iraq and supports the effort of Iraq in defeating the pandemic.
