Islamabad, 13 September 2021 (TDI): Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan shared that in the last week of September, National Logistic Cell(NLC) is going to deliver high-value products from Pakistan to Turkey via Tehran, Iran through Istanbul- Tehran- Islamabad (ITI) cargo train service.
ITI Road corridor is an important initiative of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) which was launched on August 14, 2009. The regular service of the train was hampered due to the lack of proper railway infrastructure. However, the three ECO countries announced earlier that it will in 2021.
NLC will deliver high-value products in 40-feet containers. It would be achieved under the Transports Internationaux Routers (TIR) license. It was issued by the Pakistan National Authorization Committee of the International Transport Union.
These products include raw material, textile-related equipment, electronics, household items, electronics, computers, home appliances, furniture, carpets, non-perishable food items, and dry fruit.
The railroad corridor is significant for economic integration and connectivity. Turkey, the gateway to Europe will open new avenues for Pakistan for greater regional connectivity and economic prosperity.
