Iranian Ambassador to China says China can help Afghanistan in its rebuild

Beijing, 30 October 2021 (TDI): Iranian Ambassador to China Mohammad Keshavarzzadeh gave an interview to the Chinese State Media. He emphasized Afghanistan’s situation by saying China can help Afghanistan in its rebuild.

The Iranian ambassador stated that both Iran and China have common interests in Afghanistan. Both want to protect the neighboring states of Afghanistan from the terrorists and spillover of Afghanistan.

The two countries also support the policy of non-interference in Afghanistan to respect its territorial sovereignty. The ambassador also highlighted the Chinese project of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

He stressed that BRI could help the Afghan vulnerable economic situation in its rebuild. He added that BRI can help to improve the livelihoods of the miserable Afghans.

The ambassador further expressed that Iran believes in the role of the regional organizations such as BRI, Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

Keshavarzzadeh said that the neighboring states of Afghanistan are all concerned about terrorism in Afghanistan. He called on the Taliban government to be committed to counter-terrorism to ensure peace and stability in the region.

The ambassador also urged international organizations especially the United Nations to play their role in the rebuilding of Afghanistan.

China and Iran enjoy good relations. The two countries want to expand their cooperation. The two countries are major actors in the region. Iran has a huge interest in the Chinese multi-billion project of BRI.

The Iranian port of Chahbahar has also huge importance for China. The two countries want to strengthen their relations by enhancing cooperation.
