Tehran (TDI): Iran has announced the establishment of a new body called the Persian Gulf Strait Authority under its Supreme National Security Council.
The body will reportedly provide real-time updates on activities and developments in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategic shipping routes.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that indirect talks with the United States are continuing through Pakistan’s mediation. He dismissed concerns raised about uranium enrichment and nuclear materials, calling them baseless. The spokesperson also stated that Iran has no hostility toward regional countries and emphasized the need for regional stability, while criticizing foreign military presence in the Middle East.
In the Gulf region, Kuwait and Qatar strongly condemned recent drone attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, which were reportedly launched from Iraqi airspace. Both countries described the attacks as violations of Saudi sovereignty and UN resolutions, expressing full support for Riyadh’s security measures after Saudi air defenses intercepted multiple drones.

Oman also condemned a drone strike that caused a fire at the UAE’s Barakah Nuclear Power Plant, calling for restraint and respect for international law. The United Nations expressed concern over the incident, warning that attacks near nuclear facilities are unacceptable and urging all sides to avoid further escalation.
Separately, a senior Iranian military adviser warned that continued pressure from the United States could lead to severe consequences in the Gulf of Oman. He suggested that Iranian forces would respond if naval blockades persist, describing such actions as an act of war. He also emphasized that while the Strait of Hormuz remains open to commercial shipping, military activity and perceived threats to Iran’s security would not be tolerated.

Tensions in the region have increased following earlier US and Israeli strikes on Iran earlier this year, which triggered retaliatory actions and disruptions in maritime traffic. Although a ceasefire was later brokered with Pakistan’s mediation, relations remain strained, and maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz continues to be a major concern.
