Vienna, 26 September 2022 (TDI): Mohammad Eslami, Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), on Monday attended the 66th Annual General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The four-day conference which commenced on 26 September 2022 is currently happening at the Agency’s headquarters in Vienna, Austria.
The Representatives from the IAEA’s 175 Member States will be participating in the 66th General Conference. The event was kickstarted by an opening address by the IAEA Chief, Rafael Mariano Grossi.

Agenda of the Conference
The High-ranking officials and representatives from IAEA 175 Member States will consider a range of issues.

The conference will discuss the 2021 Annual Report and the 2023 budget to strengthen activities related to nuclear science, technology, and Innovation Project Implementation on Monday.
In addition to that, the Global Energy Crisis and the Role of Advanced Nuclear Technology will also be addressed.
Following Monday, the conference will discuss strengthening Nuclear Security Through Capacity Building and Education, International Emergency Preparedness and Response, and the 25 Years Joint Convention.
Moreover, Nuclear Sciences and Technology for Climate Adaptation, diagnosis, and treatment will also be quoted. Another event will provide the latest status and future direction of the Zoonotic Disease Integrated Action (ZODIAC).
The IAEA will also discuss the progress of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) and their applications. Moreover, in the upcoming days of the Conference, Nuclear safety, security, and safeguards in Ukraine, in the Middle East, and in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea will also be a part of the esteemed discussion.
In addition, to mark the success of the Agency’s Programme on Nuclear Security at Major Public Events (MPEs) over the past 18 years, case studies, as well as planned developments in the MPE program, and documents to the delegates also be presented during a side event.
Throughout the week, both the IAEA and its Member States will host about 80 side events. General Conference Sessions at the Plenary Hall, including the statements of officials & delegates, will be streamed live during the whole week of the General Conference.
