Indonesian Chargé d’Affaires Receives Global Ambassador Award

Islamabad (TDI): Rahmat Hindiarta Kusuma, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Indonesia to Pakistan, has been honoured with the prestigious Global Ambassador Award 2024 in recognition of his outstanding efforts in strengthening diplomatic, trade, and cultural ties with Pakistan.

The Diplomatic Insight, a global public diplomacy institution in Pakistan, awarded the diplomat with the 6th Global Ambassador Award for his groundbreaking contributions to bringing the two nations closer together at bilateral, regional, and multilateral forums within a short period of time.

The 6th Global Ambassador Awards Ceremony 2024 took place in Islamabad, with the presence of Ambassadors, diplomatic corps, Parliamentarians, government officials, business leaders, academics, media, and civil society members.

Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, graced the occasion as the chief guest.

Dr. Farhat Asif, Chairperson of the Diplomatic Insight Group, welcomed distinguished guests and underscored the organization’s commitment to promoting global collaboration and diplomacy.

A seasoned diplomat, Rahmat Hindiarta Kusuma holds a B.Sc. in Arabic Literature from Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University and an M.Sc. in International Relations from the University of Indonesia, specializing in Middle Eastern affairs.

His career includes postings in Egypt, Syria, the U.S., and Pakistan, where he has strengthened Indonesia’s ties with host nations.

In Pakistan, he has led efforts to enhance cultural diplomacy, organizing the Indonesian Embassy’s 2023 Diplomatic Reception featuring a cultural troupe from West Sumatera.

His initiatives have fostered closer people-to-people connections between Indonesia and Pakistan.

Kusuma has also prioritized economic diplomacy, spearheading trade forums in cities like Lahore, Sialkot, and Faisalabad.

His leadership has broadened trade beyond palm oil and encouraged Pakistani entrepreneurs to attend Indonesia’s Trade Expo 2024.

He has promoted tourism, urging more Pakistanis to visit Indonesia.

As two large Muslim-majority countries, Indonesia and Pakistan share common values.

Kusuma has facilitated dialogues with Pakistani ulemas and madrassas, promoting religious harmony and democracy.

He supports education initiatives, including an online internship for Pakistani female students.

Notable achievements include launching the ASEAN Movie Night and advancing scientific cooperation with COMSTECH.

As Indonesia and Pakistan prepare to mark 75 years of diplomatic ties in 2025, his leadership is setting the stage for further collaboration.
