Jakarta, 15 November 2021 (TDI): Indonesia will host an International Conference on Digital Diplomacy (ICDD). The conference is scheduled for 16 November 2021. This conference is the second part of the Regional Conference on Digital Diplomacy (RCDD); which took place in September 2019.

Regional Conference on Digital Diplomacy

RCDD established the foundation for “Jakarta Message”. Jakarta Message is an action plan that encourages governments, residents, and private sectors to establish an accord between them to expand digital networks. It will buttress the usage of digital technology for diplomatic activities.

International Conference on Digital diplomacy

The main objective of the International Conference on Digital diplomacy is to further enhance cooperation and exchange of ideas between different countries of the world; in the field of digital diplomacy. The conference has invited people with expertise in the field of management crisis and digital diplomacy belonging to think tanks, governments, and institutions from across the globe.

Unmasking the Digital Diplomacy is the New Normal

The theme of this year’s ICDD is “Unmasking the Digital Diplomacy is the New Normal”. The conference will be held virtually due to the ongoing pandemic. Official representatives of twenty-one countries will attend the conference; Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Chile, China, Fiji, Finland, India, Indonesia, Japan, Lao PDR, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand, UK, USA, and Viet Nam.

Subject Matters

In the commencement session, each state will have the chance to opine on the following subject matters:

  • Digital Diplomacy for Crisis Management – a general statement and overview of the experience in managing the crisis through diplomacy during the pandemic.
  • Digital Diplomacy in the New Era of Opportunities – a general statement and overview of how to improve the use of digital diplomacy in trade, tourism, investment, and culture in the future.

Furthermore, the international conference is going to have four panels. Each panel is going to take place simultaneously. The panels are as follows;
