Islamabad, 9 March 2023 (TDI): Indonesian Ambassador to Pakistan, Adam M. Tugio on 7 March 2023 paid a courtesy call on Syed Murtaza Mahmud, Federal Minister of Industry and Production of Pakistan.

The agenda of the meeting was to discuss efforts to deepen bilateral trade by exploring sectors with complementary and competitive advantages, as well as promoting mutual support and investments.

The two officials also exchanged views on value-added sectors and strategies to promote SMEs, especially those owned by women entrepreneurs, given their significant contribution to their respective countries’ economies.

The two sides also pointed out the importance of diversifying trade items and expressed their commitment to helping promote the business communities of the two countries to expand trade and achieve mutually beneficial cooperation.

Indonesia and Pakistan have long-standing diplomatic ties. Both countries have worked to strengthen economic ties, especially in the industrial sector, in recent years.

Indonesia is a major producer of raw materials, while Pakistan is known for its expertise in textiles, leather, and agriculture.

The two countries have identified areas of mutual interest such as infrastructure, textiles, automobiles, energy, and information technology where they can cooperate and benefit each other.

The two governments have also signed several bilateral agreements to strengthen economic cooperation and promote investment between the two countries.

Growing industrial ties between Indonesia and Pakistan are expected to create jobs, increase trade and boost economic growth in both countries.
