Islamabad: June 26, 21 – (TDI): President Dr Arif Alvi has encouraged the international community to pay attention to the recent illegal uranium transaction on the Indian black market, expressing concern that such radioactive material could fall into the wrong hands, jeopardising human lives and national security. President Alvi bemoaned the foreign media’s failure to cover the episode, which could have major ramifications. President Alvi highlighted Pakistan’s success storey in the war on terror, explaining that the armed forces and law enforcement agencies had successfully conducted operations against terrorists while speaking to military officers attending the National Security Workshop at National Defence University. He did, however, say that Pakistan had to pay a high price to fight the war on terror, claiming that the country has lost over 70,000 people and suffered losses of over 0 billion.
President Alvi told the officers that Pakistan was working hard to ensure peace and stability in Afghanistan, as the country would benefit greatly from stability in its neighbouring country.
According to a press release published by the President’s Media Office, he restated the government’s moral stance that it could not allow the US to utilise its bases against Afghanistan.
He went on to say that Pakistan was the worst hit by the long-running battle in Afghanistan, which had a negative impact on both its economy and security.
