Inauguration of Pakistan-Tanzania Bilateral Political Consultations

Islamabad, 13 March  2024 (TDI): The inaugural session of Pakistan-Tanzania Bilateral Political Consultations convened in Dar es Salaam on March 12, marking a significant milestone in the diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Ambassador Shaharyar Akbar Khan, Additional Foreign Secretary (Africa), led the Pakistani delegation, while Ambassador Salvator Marcus Mbilinyi, Director (Asia and Australasia), headed the Tanzanian side, as per the statement issued by the Foreign Office.

The discussions encompassed a wide range of areas, including political, trade, investment, capacity building, education, defence, and cultural relations, demonstrating the commitment of both countries to enhance cooperation across various sectors

Comprehensive Dialogue

Both sides reiterated their commitment to strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation and emphasized the importance of high-level exchanges to deepen bilateral ties.

The inaugural session was hailed as a significant step towards further enhancing Pakistan-Tanzania relations.

The session covered the entire gamut of bilateral relations, including political dynamics, trade and investment opportunities, capacity building initiatives, educational cooperation, defence collaboration, and cultural exchanges.

Moreover, regional situation and collaboration at multilateral forums were also deliberated upon, reflecting the shared interests and common objectives of Pakistan and Tanzania on regional and global issues.

Future Prospects and Meetings

Both sides expressed optimism for future collaboration and reaffirmed their determination to continue cooperation in all matters of mutual interest.

Tanzanian authorities conveyed their intention to organize an official visit by their Foreign Minister to Pakistan in the near future, highlighting their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

During stay in Dar es Salaam, Additional Foreign Secretary Shaharyar Akbar Khan held separate meetings with key Tanzanian officials.

Including, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Dr. Samuel W. Shelukindo.

Furthermore, Foreign Secretary Shaharyar Akbar Khan held discussions with Director General, Tanzania Trade Development Authority, Ms. Latifa M. Khamis.

These meetings provided an opportunity to exchange views on further enhancing bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of trade, defence, capacity building, and educational cooperation.

The inaugural session of Pakistan-Tanzania Bilateral Political Consultations underscores the shared commitment of both countries.

Moreover, to deepen their bilateral relationship and explore new avenues of cooperation for mutual benefit.
