Moscow, 24 February 2022 (TDI): The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan is on his first official visit to the Russian Federation. He met with the Russian President, Vladimir Putin.
Prime Minister Imran Khan is in Russia on his two-day visit to Russia, the first of its kind by any Pakistani Prime Minister in 23 years. This is one of the key steps in developing stronger ties with Russia.

During the meeting with Russian President Putin at the Kremlin, the bilateral ties were talked about, especially regarding the swiftly changing geopolitical dynamics of the world.
Regional security and stability were a part of the discussion too. According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office of Pakistan earlier this week, “Putin and Khan will review the entire array of bilateral relations including energy cooperation, as well as unnamed regional and international issues.”
He also had a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Valentinovich Novak, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, Nikolay Shulginov with the delegations.

During the meetings with the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia and the Minister of Energy with their delegations, they discussed the bilateral ties of both of the states and agreed on further cooperation regarding the concerning fields.
Earlier, Khan also laid a flower wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow. The site is in remembrance of the Soviet soldiers who died in the Second World War.
After laying a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier, Prime Minister Imran Khan was accorded the march past.

The visit to Russia is at a critical time as the military operations have started by the Russian armed forces against Ukraine.
However, this visit is an important step towards better ties between Russia and Pakistan. Until the further official statements by the state officials, this visit is of high hope for both states.
