Islamabad, 22 March 2022 (TDI): The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan expressed condolences to China on the tragic incident of the plane crash. The plane carrying 132 passengers crashed yesterday.

He stated that he was deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives in the passenger plane crash in China. Pakistan shares the grief of the Chinese brothers and sisters. Prime Minister Imran Khan also conveyed deepest condolences and sympathies with the bereaved families.

According to the preliminary reports, a flight of Boeing 737-800 jetliner crashed into a mountainous area in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in south China, yesterday. The plane was carrying 132 people when it crashed at about 2:38 p.m. BJT.

Rescue operations are underway. However, casualties are still unknown as none of the people on board the 737-800 jetliner have been found so far. China Eastern Airlines operates the Boeing 737-800 jetliner.

The passenger aircraft was en route from Kunming to Guangzhou, which is the capital of southern Guangdong Province. Whereas, Kunming is the capital of southwest China’s Yunnan Province.

Boeing 737-800 jetliner has been in service for six years. The last fatal 737-800 crash was in August 2020 when an aircraft of Air India Express crashed while landing at the Calicut International Airport, Kerala, killing 21.

The Boeing 737-800 is part of the 737 family and it is the most-flown commercial aircraft series in the world. It was developed in the 1960s. Furthermore, the aircraft has a seating capacity of almost 162 to 189 seats.
