Washington DC, 21 October 2022 (TDI): The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) together with the United States (US) is organizing the fifth International Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Power.

The event will be taking place in Washington DC, United States. It will last from 26 to 28 October 2022.

About the Conference

The conference is organized in partnership with the IAEA and in cooperation with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Nuclear Energy Agency.

The conference invites industry representatives, policymakers, and experts from around the world. The IAEA welcomes and encourages the participation of women, early career professionals, and individuals from developing countries.

They will discuss the key challenges and opportunities nuclear power presents in the context of energy security and climate change.

Moreover, the conference provides a platform for high-level dialogue on the role of nuclear energy in the transition to clean energy sources. This further contributes to sustainable development and mitigating climate change.

The event also focuses on the challenges faced by the nuclear industry and solutions to overcome those challenges, as well as the engagement of youth and other stakeholders.

A plenary session will be held at which ministerial statements will be delivered. Moreover, the event involves panel discussions among internationally recognized experts and side events on thematic topics featuring high-level speakers.

At the end of the conference, a concluding plenary session will take place with the statement of Conference President Alessandro Cortese.
