Rawalpindi, August 26, 2023: A delegation of 38 students from Harvard University, representing diverse nationalities, embarked on a significant engagement with Pakistan’s leadership during their visit to the country.

The delegation, keen on fostering an in-depth understanding of regional security dynamics and global relations, commenced their immersive experience by interacting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir, and later with Interim Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar.

These interactions provided the students with valuable insights into Pakistan’s multifaceted roles on both regional and global fronts.

COAS General Syed Asim Munir’s Insights

During the enlightening session with the COAS, General Syed Asim Munir, the students were offered profound insights into regional security matters. With a focus on Pakistan’s pivotal role in promoting peace and stability, General Munir detailed the relentless efforts of the Pakistan Army in countering terrorism and extremist elements.

He underscored Pakistan’s unyielding commitment and the significant sacrifices made in the global campaign against terrorism.

General Munir particularly highlighted Pakistan’s role as a steadfast bulwark against the threat of terrorism, emphasizing its crucial significance in the international struggle for security and peace.

The COAS also engaged in discussions concerning the ongoing challenges in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIIJOK), shedding light on efforts to address demographic shifts and human rights issues in the region.   

Interim Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar’s Perspective

In a separate session, the Harvard delegation engaged with Interim Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar. Prime Minister Kakar emphasized the importance of international partnerships in an interconnected world.

He addressed the significance of maintaining connections with countries such as the United States, highlighting the integral role played by global engagement in shaping a nation’s progress.

Prime Minister Kakar elaborated that, in the current global landscape, no nation could isolate itself from the momentum of worldwide advancements. He elucidated the complex nature of Pakistan’s relationship with North America and emphasized the nation’s capacity for rational engagement while maintaining healthy disagreements on various issues.
