Hanuchan (TDI): On the second and concluding day of the Commemoration of the International Day of Peace 2026 on Tuesday, a thematic forum and an open roundtable dialogue brought together officials, diplomats, civil society leaders, and young delegates from around the world.
The day opened with the thematic forum, Pooling Strength to Build a Path to Peace, held in the Grand Conference Room of the Huanglong Lake International Conference Center.
Moderated by Guo Feng, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Foundation for Peace and Development, the session featured addresses by Qian Hongshan, former Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, and Moktar Khalifa, member of the National Assembly of Mauritania and head of the Mauritania-China Parliamentary Friendship Group.
More speeches came from Liu Yue – Deputy Director-General and Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for International Economic Research of China’s National Development and Reform Commission, Mohammed Ihsan – Secretary-General of the Afro-Asian People’s Solidarity Organization, Fang Chao – Secretary of the CPC Hanchuan Municipal Committee, Adrianna Sniadowska – Chief Executive Officer of the Polish Center for International Relations, and Kazi Sazzad Zahir – Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Bangladesh.
Proceedings continued with the screening of an AI-produced promotional film, “The Path of Peace,” followed by an open roundtable dialogue themed “Cooperation and Development: Jointly Building the Cornerstone of Peace.”
The roundtable was moderated by Liu Huici, Program Officer of the China NGO Network for International Exchanges (CNIE), who guided a wide-ranging exchange among participants from government, medicine, cultural outreach, academia and civil society.
Speakers included Zhou Mingjian – Vice President of the Chinese Medical Association, Dennis Herold – Head of the International Cultural Outreach Program at the Wenzhou High-Temperature Youth Federation, Xia Yu – Deputy Director of the Office of the Leading Group of Hubei Province for Promoting the Belt and Road Initiative.
Muhammad Mateen – Research Associate at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad, Pakistan, Yang Yongjin – Founder of the Basi Public Welfare Alliance and Honorary President of the Fuzhou Giant Panda Conservation Association, Sinar Shaikh – Leader of the Youth Wing of the Peace Fund of Kazakhstan, and Huang Jingru – Executive Secretary-General of the Beijing Yuanmeng Charity Foundation were the other panelists of the dialogue.
The dialogue ranged across public health, cultural exchange, conservation and regional connectivity under the Belt and Road framework, with several speakers stressing that grassroots cooperation and sustainable development remain central to lasting peace.
The program closed with a Youth Sharing Session, “The Path of Peace in My Eyes,” giving young delegates the floor to offer their own perspectives on peacebuilding; a fitting end to two days of dialogue in Wuhan and Hanchuan.
