Kabul, 6 August 2021 (TDI): Haneef Atmar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan spoke to Michelle Bachelet, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in a video conference.  Two parties discussed escalating violence in Afghanistan concerning the greater engagement of the Taliban in the country.

Both sides expressed grave concerns about Human Rights violations in Afghanistan. Haneef Atmar briefed the UN High Commissioner about the atrocities and casualties Afghanistan is facing daily.  Afghanistan is at nadir requiring foreign help and assistance to tackle rampant Taliban, he informed. Also, Haneef called on the UNSC to hold a special session of the Human Rights Council to discuss terrific Human Rights violations in Afghanistan. With that, the Foreign Minister requested the High Commissioner to send a fact-finding mission to monitor the state and work as a deterrent against Afghan Taliban ferocity.
