Kabul, 6 August 2021 (TDI): Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Russia have started their joint military drills near Tajikistan-Afghanistan Border in the Tajikistan region of Khatlon on Thursday.
The trilateral military exercise involves an unrevealed number of fighters, 300 armored vehicles, and 25 combat helicopters from Tajikistan with 420 military hardware units accompanying 1800 fighters from Russia. Separately, Drills in Uzbekistan are also being conducted by Russia in which 4 Russian strategic bombers and 1500 troops are participating.
The drills and artillery deployment are followed by the capture of Uzbek-Tajik border regions by the Afghan Taliban. Russia intends to take preventive measures to protect its southern areas from any escalation of violence in Afghanistan.
