Phnom Penn (TDI): Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, Yousuf Raza Gilani, concluded an official visit to Cambodia, where he was leading a parliamentary delegation, and met Cambodian counterparts.
The visit was undertaken to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy and bilateral relations between the two countries. Chairman Gilani met with the President of the Senate of Cambodia, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.
The talks focused on matters of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on enhancing parliamentary cooperation, deepening bilateral relations, and expanding political, economic, and people-to-people engagement.
Both sides exchanged views on exploring new avenues of collaboration in trade, investment, institutional linkages, and parliamentary exchanges.
The discussions reflected a shared resolve to elevate Pakistan–Cambodia relations through sustained dialogue and cooperation, underscoring the role of parliamentary engagement in strengthening broader state-to-state ties.
In recognition of the visit, the Cambodian leadership hosted an official dinner in honor of Chairman Gilani, highlighting the cordial and friendly relations between Pakistan and Cambodia.
Chairman Gilani arrived in Phnom Penh earlier with a parliamentary delegation and was accorded a warm reception at Techo International Airport.

He paid tribute at Cambodia’s Independence Monument by laying a floral wreath in honor of the country’s national heroes and acknowledging its historic struggle for independence.
He also laid a wreath at the Royal Memorial Statue of the late King Father Preah Borom Ratanak Kaoudh, symbolizing Pakistan’s respect for Cambodia’s history, heritage, and national legacy.
Subsequently, Chairman Gilani proceeded to the Solidarity Palace of the Cambodian Senate, where a formal reception ceremony was held at the Polyarthipadi Hall.
President of the Cambodian Senate personally welcomed the Pakistani delegation. The ceremony included a Guard of Honor, introduction of delegation members, and formal exchange of greetings.
The visit is being viewed as an important milestone in advancing parliamentary, political, and people-to-people relations between Pakistan and Cambodia.
Observers note that the engagements have opened new pathways for sustained bilateral cooperation and mutual understanding, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening long-standing friendly relations with Cambodia through parliamentary diplomacy.
