Germany Starts New Online Portal for Work Visa Applications from Pakistan

Islamabad (TDI): The German Embassy in Islamabad has started a new online system to help Pakistanis apply for work visas more easily. The Consular Services Portal is made to reduce delays and make the whole process faster and smoother.

This move comes as many people in Pakistan have been facing issues such as long wait times and confusion in the process when trying to get appointments for their visa applications.

The new portal guides users in every step. Applicants can fill out a questionnaire, upload their documents, and have everything checked online before even going to the embassy.

According to the embassy, this system makes sure all documents are ready ahead of time, which helps speed up the in-person process. However, people still need to visit the embassy to prove their identity, give fingerprints, and pay the visa fee.

This online system covers several types of work visas such as skilled worker visas, the EU Blue Card, the new Opportunity Card (also known as Chancenkarte), self-employment visas, and visas for people whose qualifications from Pakistan need to be recognized in Germany.

The embassy also suggested that those who haven’t yet gotten an appointment should use this portal to start their application. They said that more visa types will be added soon so that the system can help even more people.

At the same time, the German Consulate in Karachi has made some changes as well. Due to high demand, people applying from Karachi can’t book appointments directly anymore (except for the Opportunity Card).

Instead, they have to register on a waiting list. Appointment dates will then be given out later based on when someone registered and how many slots are available.

These modifications were made in order to better handle the large number of applications and to manage things more fairly.
