Islamabad (TDI): The German Embassy in Pakistan, in collaboration with the Human Friends Organization (HFO), has initiated a humanitarian relief operation for flood-affected communities in the Buner district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
The relief effort is providing essential food and hygiene packages, enough for one month, to 300 families severely impacted by the recent devastating floods.
Germany’s ambassador to Pakistan, Ina Lepel, who assumed charge last month, announced the initiative in a post on social media app X. “Devastating floods have left many in Pakistan in urgent need,” she wrote.

The assistance comes as parts of KP continue to grapple with the aftermath of unusually heavy monsoon rains that triggered flash floods across several districts.
Buner, a mountainous district with limited infrastructure, has particularly been hard-hit, with many families losing homes, livestock, and access to clean water.
Each relief package includes non-perishable food items, clean drinking water, and hygiene kits containing soap, disinfectant, sanitary products, and other daily essentials to help prevent the outbreak of waterborne diseases.
The German Embassy’s initiative is part of a broader international response aimed at addressing the urgent needs of communities affected by climate-induced disasters in Pakistan.

Local authorities and humanitarian organizations have welcomed Germany’s support. A spokesperson of the Human Friends Organization said, “This collaboration is not just about aid, it is about humanity… These packages will go a long way in helping families stabilize and regain a sense of dignity.”
High Commission of the United Kingdom in Pakistan also came forward earlier to announce £3 million in emergency relief and response.
The death toll of the floods is the highest in Pakistan’s KP province, where over 500 people have lost lives.
