Islamabad, 18 August 2021 (TDI): The German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, and the Prime Minister Pakistan Imran Khan in a telephonic call with briefed each other of their support for Afghanistan. PM Imran Khan stated the high priority of stability of Afghanistan for the security of Pakistan and that an inclusive settlement of all groups in Afghanistan in a government was crucial to this.
In addition, he detailed the efforts on the Pakistani side to reach out to Afghan leaders as well as the international community to remain engaged for an economically secure Afghanistan. The safety of rights of women and children is central to Pakistan and all global actors as the evacuation of diplomatic staff, locals and organizations is underway.
Both sides appreciated the positive regular and high-level diplomatic relations between the two countries and assured each other of future cooperation in all fields.
