Beijing, 7 September 2021 (TDI): German Ambassador to China Jan Hecker who assumed charge two weeks ago died on Monday. The reason for death is still not revealed. Jan Hecker was a former foreign policy advisor of the Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.
“I mourn the loss of a highly esteemed, long-standing advisor of deep humanity and outstanding professional expertise,” tweeted the Chancellor.
Moreover, the spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that they are in deep shock at the sudden demise of the ambassador. Furthermore, Wang Wenbin further notes, “Ambassador Hecker has been proactive in promoting China-German ties since he assumed office.” China will extend every possible help to the bereaved family.
