Meeting with German Ambassador
President Alvi told the German Ambassador during the meeting that Germany was one of Pakistan’s greatest foreign direct investments.
He stated that German enterprises with competence in the wind, solar, and hydropower projects might benefit from new sets of incentives granted by Pakistan in these industries.
Under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the President urged German businesses to participate in Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
He stated that, given the enormous potential for commerce, trade, and investment between the two countries, the current level of bilateral trade needed to be significantly enhanced.

Moreover, in the face of disastrous floods in Pakistan, he emphasized the importance of bilateral collaboration between the two countries in mitigating the detrimental consequences of climate change and global warming.
Pakistan-Germany Ties
The two countries established diplomatic relations in the 1950s, with a focus on social, educational, and economic growth, and have maintained close ties since 1963, when Pakistan funded West Germany Rs120 million.
Germany has an Embassy in Islamabad and Consulates General in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Quetta while Pakistan has an Embassy in Berlin and a Consulate General in Hamburg.
The two have shared significant collaboration and historical links. Germany is one of Pakistan’s most important trading partners. According to some estimates in 2019, there were roughly 124,000 Pakistanis living in Germany.
Prior to Germany’s reunification, Pakistan enjoyed friendly and cordial relations with both East and West Germany. More than 1200 Germans live in Pakistan, primarily in Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar.
