China and GCC closely cooperate in the economic realm

Beijing, 8 January 2022 (TDI): According to a statement by the Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Wang Wenbin, Foreign Ministers of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Member States; Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain as well as the GCC Secretary-General, will be visiting China in the coming days.

The dignitaries will be visiting China from 10 to 14 January at the invitation of the Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister, Wang Yi. Amongst the GCC officials will be Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, and Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, Foreign Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs of Kuwait.

In addition, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister of Oman, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, and Dr. Nayef Falah M. Al-Hajraf, the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), will also visit China.

China and GCC Relations

China and the GCC states have developed a mutually advantageous relationship to complement each other’s economic growth development. China and most of the Gulf states share the ultimate objective of establishing stability in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

China and GCC countries enjoy cordial diplomatic relations and closely collaborate in all fields ranging from political to security to economic. The partners have experienced a remarkable reciprocal relation in the past 40 years of diplomatic ties.

China is keen to elevate the status of bilateral ties and enhance mutual cooperation and support in all aspects, on the basis of mutual respect and win-win cooperation. Besides, China will boost collaboration with the GCC in its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and build an inclusive health community.

China has been proactive in helping the world fight the threat imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, both in the health and economic sectors.
