Brussels, 12 August 2021 (TDI): European Commissioner for Crisis Management, in charge of European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid, Janez Lenarčič expressed his gratitude towards the EU Civil Protection Mechanism for assistance with the raging wildfires in Greece and Italy. The Act, at the time of crisis and emergency, has brought the EU member countries close to each other. The 3 Canadian Planes from France after performing their excellent duties in fighting the destructive fires in Greece have been re-deployed in Italy under Civil Protection Mechanism.
The EU Civil Protection Mechanism has been established by the European Commission to help member countries at the time of current natural disasters and also to coordinate with disaster prevention. According to Janez Lenarčič, this mechanism is devoted and truly committed to its job.
