Riyadh/Islamabad, 14 August 2022 (TDI): The Foreign Ministry of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) congratulated Pakistan on its 75th Independence Day anniversary.

Message from the Foreign Ministry

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs congratulates the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on Independence Day”

Pakistan and Saudi Arab relations

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have had political, religious, economic, cultural, and strategic relations since the establishment of Pakistan in 1947.

Pakistan affirms its relationship with Saudi Arabia as their most “important and bilateral partnership” in the current foreign policy.

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are leading members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Saudi Arabia is one of the strongest supporters of Pakistan during Pakistan’s wars with India.

During the 1990–1991 Persian Gulf War, Pakistan sent troops to protect the Islamic holy sites in Saudi Arabia.

Along with the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan were the only states to recognize Taliban rule in Afghanistan. Saudi Arabia is the largest source of petroleum for Pakistan and it also supplies extensive financial aid to Pakistan.

Both countries have exchanged delegations and plan to expand bilateral cooperation in trade, education, tourism, information technology, and other domains.

Saudi Arabia is aiding the development of trade relations with Pakistan through the Gulf Cooperation Council. Pakistan is negotiating a free trade agreement with it as well.

Pakistan is commemorating the Diamond Jubilee of the 75th Independence Day, today. The day began with a 21-gun salute at the provincial headquarters and a 31-gun salute at the federal capital.

At dawn, special prayers were/will be said at mosques for the nation’s peace, unity, and prosperity. A ceremony to raise the national flag was the focal point of the festivities.

Similar flag-raising ceremonies also took place across the nation at provincial, divisional, and district levels. Likewise, the Pakistani missions across the world hosted flag hoisting ceremonies.
