Islamabad, 21 March 2022 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi met the Foreign Minister of Tunisia, Othman Jerand

Today, the meeting was held in the Federal Capital Islamabad. This important meeting was held on the sidelines or the margins of the upcoming 48th session of the OIC CFM.

The 48th session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Council of Foreign Ministers will begin tomorrow, i.e., 22 March, in Islamabad.

Matters Discussed between the two Foreign Ministers.

In today’s meeting, both the respected Foreign Ministers exchanged views on various matters.

 

Pakistan-Tunisia Bilateral Ties

During the meeting, bilateral ties between Pakistan and Tunisia were discussed mainly regional issues were also underscored during the session. The meeting aimed to highlight the matters that could prove mutually beneficial. Also, the upcoming OIC Conference of Foreign Minister’s agenda points were discussed.

The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, expressed his appreciation for the President of Tunisia’s positive response on Combating Islamophobia. The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, basically sent the proposal to him (the Tunisian President) on countering Islamophobia, which was warmly accepted.

The Foreign Minister of Tunisia Othman Jerandi expressed his satisfaction over the friendly meeting. Othman Jerandi took to his official Twitter account to voice his satisfaction.

 

 

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that he is pleased to meet his “brother” Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Islamabad.

Additionally, both agree to take the friendly bond between two countries to another level of strength.

Pakistan and Tunisia relationship

The Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of Tunisia share brotherly relations. Both countries have the same state religion as well i.e. Islam. The governments support each other in multiple sectors.

As an example, one of the domains or sectors is the military. Multiple Pakistani Naval missions, time after time, go to Tunisia. Not only that but Tunisia also reciprocates by showing interest in Pakistani-made arms etc.

Today’s meeting is one such example of a high level stronger bond between countries and leadership. Multiple examples exist from history and contemporary times that prove the cordial nature of relations. With the upcoming OIC CFM Session, the bond is further expected to strengthen.
