New York, 24 September 2021 (TDI): Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, met Foreign Minister of Finland, Pekka Haavisto. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The meeting marked the discussion of mutual interests along with regional and global dynamics.
Both leaders also exchanged on the emerging situation in Afghanistan. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan holds its relations with Finland in high esteem. He further added that reopening of Finland’s embassy in Islamabad would solidify the relationship between the two countries.
It would also facilitate people-to-people interactions. The Foreign Minister expressed his resolve to further strengthen the bilateral relationship in political, economic, cultural, and academic domains.
On this occasion, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi invited his Finish counterpart to visit Pakistan. Pakistan and Finland celebrate seven decades of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year. Both countries established diplomatic relations in 1951.
