Tashkent, 5 August 2022 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, Vladimir Norov met with the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab States, Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf.

Both parties highlighted aspects of relations and opportunities for joint cooperation in significant sectors. Together with the importance of strengthening partnerships to serve the common interests between the two sides.
The Secretary-General pointed out the significance of strengthening Gulf relations with Uzbekistan, and the keenness toward developing and seizing and developing the available opportunities.
In addition to this, the progress of the implementation of the previously reached agreements. That is, including an MOU on the mechanism of mutual consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Uzbekistan) and the General Secretariat of the GCC, was considered.
Notably, the Secretary-General met with Abdulaziz Kamilov, Advisor to the President for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, Secretary General underlined the importance of working to expand the horizons of cooperation relations. Specifically between the countries of the Cooperation Council and the Republic of Uzbekistan. That is, to serve the interests as well as areas of joint cooperation.
GCC
The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf a is regional organisation between the Arab States of the Gulf and was set up in 1981.
GCC’s objectives include enhancing coordination, integration, and inter-connection among its members. The member states of the GCC are Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Noteworthy, the geographical proximity of the GCC states and the similarity of their regulations and economic and social conditions, helped in the establishment of the GCC.
According to its charter, GCC is a political, economic, social, and regional organization. The council held its first summit meeting on 25 May 1981 in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Therefore, summits have been held every year since then.
