New York, 20 September 2022 (TDI): Foreign Minister of the Republic of Türkiye, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, met the United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken on the sidelines of the 77th Session of the United Nation’s General Assembly (UNGA).

The meeting happened on Tuesday which also marks the first day of the High-Level meeting General Debate of the 76th session of the UNGA at the UN Headquarters in New York.

In the meeting, the Foreign Minister of Türkiye and Secretary of State of the US, Antony Blinken discussed the Bilateral Relations between the countries.

In addition, both the state officials exchanged thoughts on the ongoing regional developments especially the developments in Ukraine.

About UNGA 77

The 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly began on September 13, 2022. Csaba Kőrösi is serving as the President of the 77th session. The first day of the high-level General Debate commenced on Tuesday, 20 September 2022.

Due to COVID-19 Pandemic, this is the first time the UN General assembly has been held in person in two years.

The agenda of the 77th session of UNGA is “A watershed moment: Transformative solutions to the interconnected challenges underline the urgent and unprecedented need for Global Cooperation to address these difficulties.”

Heads of State and Governments and other high-level National Representatives will meet during the High-level Week of the 77th UN General Assembly, to present their priorities and discuss major global challenges such as the war in Ukraine.

In addition, the session will also initiate dialogue on the fight against Climate Change, food security, access to education, and Gender Equality.

Moreover, the High-level week will provide a chance to highlight the value of multicultural procedures and cross-border collaboration based on international rules in addressing Global issues.
