Dushanbe, 13 August 2022 (TDI): Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the delegation from Palestine. The Palestinian delegation was led by Imad Zuhairi, General Director of the International Cooperation Agency of the State of Palestine.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed several issues including the current situation in Palestine and the regional, bilateral and multilateral cooperation within the framework of international organizations.

Furthermore, Sirojiddin Muhriddin and the Palestinian delegation also discussed cooperation in the implementation of joint economic and agricultural projects with the support of international financial meetings.

Palestine-Tajikistan Relations

There has been a recent surge in the relations between the two countries owing to regular high-level meetings and exchanges.

In 2017, Dushanbe hosted the first political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Tajikistan and Palestine. These political consultations were co-chaired by, Nizomiddin Zohidi, Tajik Deputy Foreign Minister and Mazen Shamiya, Palestinian Assistant Foreign Minister.

Moreover, discussions in this meeting included a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest to both countries. In these consultations, the two sides exchanged views on inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Recent High-Level Meetings

Furthermore, in December 2021, Zoir Rahmonzoda, the Head of the Friendship Group with the Legislative Council of Palestine and Deputy of the Assembly of Representatives met with the Ambassador of Palestine to Tajikistan, Loai Issa.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the prospects of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Tajikistan and Palestine. The officials from both sides also lauded the work of the parliamentary Friendship Group between the Legislative Assemblies of Tajikistan and Palestine.

Moreover, in June 2020, Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan, Khusrav Noziri, met with, Loai Issa, Palestinian Ambassador to the Republic of Tajikistan.

During this meeting, the two sides discussed issues of the bilateral Tajik-Palestinian relations in various fields. Additionally, the legal framework of cooperation between the two countries was also discussed.
