A press release from Sri Lanka’s Foreign Ministry stated that the Minister is scheduled to meet with the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, Farhan Al Saud, and discuss further enhancement of cordial bilateral relations.

The bilateral relations between these two countries are set to strengthen as they will seek various ways to reach an agreement on issues of great importance.

Promoting the cultural and economic relations of these two countries will be one of the most important conversations.

Considering the various challenges the economy of Sri Lanka has gone through since the late end of last year and the beginning of the year there is a need for strong partnerships and collaborations with other countries.

Also, the Minister will meet with the senior official of the Islamic Development Bank, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Gulf Cooperation Council, and the Governors of Mecca and Medina.

During their meetings, they will discuss the issue of economic management and policies for economic recovery. KSA is noted for high oil production and this helps to promote their revenue generation and foreign exchange.

Due to the current energy challenges countries are faced with, Sri Lanka needs the cooperation of the Saudi government to facilitate their energy sector development.

The Sri Lankan Foreign Minister recently visited the US as part of the same aim to promote economic recovery for the country. The last day of the visit will be used for the signing of the MoU.
