Foreign Minister of Pakistan met his Turkish counterpart

New York, 25 September 2021 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi held a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Turkey, Mevlut Cavusoglu. The meeting held on the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Both Ministers exchanged views on evolving situation in Afghanistan, terrorism, rising islamophobia, regional security and on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir.
Regarding Afghanistan, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood highlighted that a proactive and sustained international community’s engagement in Afghanistan for humanitarian assistance and economic prosperity are critical.

They also discussed bilateral cooperation in all areas including defense. Turkey has been a strong supporter to Pakistan on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. On numerous forums including the UN and the OIC , Turkey’s president Tayyip Erdogan always have reiterated their support for the resolution of Kashmir dispute.

Pakistan and turkey are also endeavoring together towards tackling the rise of islamophobia in the western world. Both states shares amicable and friendly relations that dates back to the Ottoman Empire and the partition of Indian subcontinent.
